some questions..

by blacksheep63 @ Thursday, Jan. 31, 2008 - 19:12:43

why is it that as cars are built to higher and higher specifications (anti-lock brakes, intelligent windscreen wipers, fuel consumption technology, etc) more and more of them don't come with indicators as standard?
why do people buy gigantic saloons and people carriers and drive them on their own?
why is that said people have no idea of the size of their vehicles so sit for hours waiting for a clear road through a gap that is quite obviously navigable to the rest of us?
why do people in cars insist on ignoring pedestrians that are half way across the road they are turning into - then swear at them when this is pointed out to them?
why am I not allowed to kill inconsiderate car drivers?

Good questions.....unfortunately, no good answers to give. So, what happened to provoke your posting?

just reflections on the past two days, walking to the pub and driving to and from work - people have so little patience and thought for anyone else.

have you seen sweeney todd? just got back from the cinema - a melodramatic masterpiece - the most enjoyable tim burton film since sleepy hollow i thought - bit gory though :)

Cars do seem to make some people forget everyday manners. There's a definate attitude of "you better get out the way, because you'll come off a lot worse than me"!

Haven't seen Sweeney Todd. Heard good things but I'm not very good at gory films.

Ah well, the ability to purchase large vehicles in urban areas for personal or immediate family use is, in my experience, in inverse proportion to driving ability. Here, the smaller the car, generally speaking, the older the driver: hence the greater the road rage for normal drivers.

Come and play on public transport. Let someone else deal with the muppets.

ah but it is only this month that the bus servive (i use the term loosly) provides a bus that goes to my place of work in under an hour.. even on a bad day driving takes 30 mins and the bike under ten (but not always praticle and you take your life in your hands)

Maybe you could use the extra time on the bus to do reading or chill out to music or stuff. My journey would be 30-40 mins by car on the M60, but I do an hour by bus/train and feel 100% better for not watching my life flash before my eyes everytime A BMW decides I'm in its way.

Why does a family of 4 need 4 cars all with 4x4?

No just a personal gripe with a neighbour
